Situated between two AONB areas in North Dorset, the Blackmore Vale and Upper Piddle Valley, we are excited to receive planning permission for this bespoke 4-bedroom cottage that has outstanding countryside views in a very remote, and unique, location.

It was essential that the layout of the new 4-bedroom private residential cottage made the most of orientation and views of this beautifully remote site. Understandably, the new building would be suitable for “country life” by implementing a “Dirty in Area” when entering the building after outdoor activities such as dog walks.

The development would replace a bungalow with a new-build, bespoke family home and accompanying attached garage. With the project being based within two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the design conserves the sense of rural tranquillity by taking influences through the neighbouring historical listed farmhouses.

An important aspect of the client’s brief is to have a building that is sustainable and energy-efficient which will reduce their carbon footprint. Several sustainable strategies have been incorporated in the scheme to achieve this vision.
