Overview Details Bartons Road, Havant Havant, Hampshire BrightSpace were appointed by a Linden Homes to develop a layout for 55 new homes on this suburban site in Hampshire. The scheme was developed through close collaboration with the client, the planning authority and other stakeholders. A heavily sloping site with a number of difficult constraints provided additional challenges that influenced our approach. Each boundary relationship was different and required a different treatment. The relationship with the road to the south was enhanced with unit creating a new streetscape and providing a welcoming space to enter the development. To the west, the impact of the busy railway line was minimised through careful positioning and orientation of units. To the north, a new private drive was created fronting onto a generous buffer to a protected ancient woodland and to the east a large bank of trees were retained by positioning gardens at the outermost edge of the site. At the centre of the site, a new public green was created providing a focal point for the whole development.
