Overview Details Related Berry Court Bournemouth, Dorset Originally an underused surface carpark, Berry Court was identified for re-development by Bournemouth Borough Council as part of its Town Centre Master Vision and in accordance with the Bournemouth Town Centre Area Action Plan. Having undertaken numerous projects of this type, our understanding of the various stakeholder's interests ensured that the council’s aspirations were retained throughout the design, producing an exciting proposal that maximises the commercial value of the site. The proposal provides a 217 space council operated multi-storey car park and 113 open market rental properties (Private Rented Sector (PRS) Model). The site is challenging, steeply sloping in areas and with extensive existing trees and planting. It was important that we approached the design and layout of the car park and the residential buildings simultaneously to address these issues. The footprint of the building was carefully considered to retain as many existing trees as possible, while the scale and mass were carefully analysed in the context of the town centre and the immediate context. The proposal extends a newly built edge along the road whilst preserving and enhancing the attractively wooded frontages and visual separation to adjoining residential properties. The high quality contemporary development responds to the Art Deco Heritage of Bournemouth, taking cues from the surrounding area with clean horizontal banding and sweeping curves. The building is an elegant addition to the town centre and the varied mix of apartments offer a diverse range of accommodation in a sylvan setting with views over the town and out to sea.AwardsWinner - Best Housing Scheme (under 500 units) at The Planning Awards 2019Finalist - Best Partnership (over 101 units) at The Inside Housing Development Awards 2018 Categories: Residential & Mixed Use Photography © Jack Lodge Photography Location Bournemouth, Dorset Sectors Residential & Mixed Use Client Bournemouth Development Company Work Stages 0-7 Contract value £20m Status Completed (2018) Consultants Morgan Sindall Construction BrightSpace Team Dai Hannaford T: 01425 655 806 E: Click here to email Dai HannafordDirector Qualifications BA (Hons) Architecture Diploma Architecture ARB Projects Godolphin School, Ballard School, Berry Court, Glasshouse Studios, Bartons Road, Havant, Futura Offices, Hatfield Car Park, Mornish Road, Branksome Park, YMCA - Delta House, Bournemouth Dai is an Architect with over ten years’ experience across a variety of sectors.
