Overview Details Related BLOC Hotel - Gatwick Phase II Gatwick, London Following the highly successful launch of BLOC Hotel - Gatwick Airport in 2014, BrightSPACE Architects have been commissioned to develop proposals for a phase two extension to increase the overall hotel to 476 rooms. Providing a total of 231 rooms, the phase two extension will be built above the existing South Terminal departures gate and will be designed to accommodate multiple off-site fabrication techniques to simplify construction and to minimise the programme.Due to the complex logistics of building in a live airport environment, several Modern Methods of Construction have been considered, including full modular rooms, pre-fabricated bathroom pods and light gauge steel framed, panelised solutions.Planning approval was granted in February 2020 with an anticipated completion date of November 2021.
