Overview Details Chapel Lane Poole Poole, Dorset As part of the joint public-private partnership between Morgan Sindall Investments and the BCP Council, this local authority-owned car park site is being put forward for potential redevelopment. The site presents a number of design challenges, sitting between a Listed pub, a Locally Listed Church, a new public park, and on a potentially enhanced pedestrian and cycle route between a major retail centre and the historic high street. Our proposals sought to respect the Listed and Locally Listed buildings, to properly address the new public park, to enhance the pedestrian routes between the retail centres whilst maximising the site’s development potential. The proposals are a ‘contemporary take’ on the wharf-side, warehouse vernacular of Poole Quay, with its strong forms and recognisable profiles. The newly enhanced pedestrian route is enlivened and ‘activated’ by new commercial spaces and cafes that front a small courtyard ‘node’ on the route that passes through the site. The scheme comprises a total of 63 dwellings, in a mix of 1 and 2-bed units, generous co-working office spaces, residents gym, and café.
