A Chartered Architect since 1997, and former qualified Architectural Technician since 1987, Dave has over 30 years’ experience of working with both private and public sector clients. He combines the knowledge and skills of a lead designer and project leader with a solid background in construction techniques and technical design.
Dave’s main areas of expertise are conceptual design, helping clients develop their project briefs, early stage feasibility studies, site masterplanning, liaison with planning authorities and other key stakeholders, and public consultations. Dave is a skilled visualiser, able to quickly translate clients’ ideas and project briefs into three dimensional sketches, to explore potential design solutions.
Dave has a track record of delivering successful planning approvals across the south for contemporary luxury houses and apartments, both new and remodelled, many of which are on sensitive, rural and waterside locations. He also has considerable experience in education projects, including higher and further education schemes, from masterplanning of school and college campuses, to the detailed design of new teaching facilities.
When not hunched over a stack of tracing paper with a fast-moving felt tip pen in hand, Dave likes to try and get out on his motorbike (when he’s not taking it apart to ‘fix’ it).
After stepping down as a Director in April 2022, Eric continues to support the business as a consultant. He has a proven track record in the end-to-end design and delivery of developments, for both public, private and public/private partnerships.
He has been instrumental in the realisation of a number of major regeneration initiatives that have benefitted from his experience in land promotion, negotiation and consultation throughout the planning process, and an understanding of the commercial imperatives.
His primary focus is the realisation of mixed-use urban developments, driven by his passion for urban design, regeneration and placemaking. This is bolstered by his considerable experience of the residential sector specifically strategic land promotion, build to rent, care and student housing, which is further supported by our collective track record which includes hotels, commercial, retail and leisure developments.
When he’s not riding his bike into the studio, he’ll be on the water sailing, or, on the occasional track day, burning some rubber.

Jack joined the team in 2015 after graduating from the Arts University Bournemouth with a first-class honours degree. Jack supports our design team as an Architectural Assistant and also plays a pivotal role in helping to communicate the practice’s aims and ambitions as our Marketing Coordinator.
Although a bit of a tech guy, he’s a lover of hand drawing, being more than willing to move the mouse and keyboard aside in favor of a fountain pen and roll of tracing paper. Jack is also a keen landscape photographer, traveling across the country to capture the next sunrise or sunset and share it all with his followers.

the brief, the site and project drivers
to the client, end users and stakeholders
from previous projects and team experience
ideas, concepts and options
options, preconceptions and the brief
solutions in concept and detail
evaluate and discuss
the way forward
the process and expectations
the programme and project output
the project brief and client aspirations
"We parted with our previous firm of architects, despite having a very good relationship with them, because we felt BrightSpace would deliver a better product and that we could have a much better working hands-on experience with them. This has proved to be the case!"Mike Jackson, Micamati Limited
"I have personally known Eric Sey and Martin Dobbs for in excess of 8 years, having worked with them both on a variety of construction and development projects. BrightSpace have a good reputation in formulating creative ideas that are both innovative and deliverable."Toby Welstead, Senior Director at RPS Group PLC
"Our successful working relationship with BrightSpace has forged an association that we wish to continue in to the future and we have therefore re-employed their services on a million pound refurbishment project due to commence this spring. Once again, their understanding of the client’s requirements, together with their inspirational design was fundamental in Bentley Projects being awarded this contract."David Bentley, Bentley Projects Limited
We have worked with BrightSpace for several years now on a number of projects, all differing sizes, and scope. Because we tend to outsource all key professional packages we expect a very proactive response, in this regard BrightSpace provides us with everything that we require. We always need options and with BrightSpace we don’t have to ask for these, they understand how we work and that’s a great help when we are under pressure.Richard Gibbs - Project Director, Veyron Property
