Last week BrightSPACE participated in a Charity Dodgeball tournament. This year, the tournament was hosted by AECOM and ActiveMe 360 in aid of Hannah’s Appeal.
The BrightSPACE team were off to a flying start for the first 4 games, winning against every team we played. We made it through to the quarter finals and we are very proud of this achievement.
With team spirit in mind, some of the BrightSPACE team leant a helping hand to other members participating in the tournament. Thank you to Paul Basham Associates and Eddisons Chartered Surveyors for giving us the chance to participate in your games, it was brilliant to be able to enjoy this tournament with you!
Congratulations to the Bashbarians (Paul Basham Associates) for winning the tournament! And well done to everyone for raising an amazing £898 in aid of Hannah’s Appeal.
Hannah’s Appeal is a local charity based in Waterlooville, Hampshire.
At the Age of 8 Hannah was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease (cancer of the lymph glands) and was treated at Southampton General Hospital. She was always full of fun and cheered up other children on the ward. Sadly, at the age of 10 on 19th September 2004 Hannah passed away peacefully at her family home in Waterlooville.
She underwent very intense chemotherapy, a stem cell treatment and radiotherapy. Despite all of this she never complained and remained a very happy, caring, and loving daughter, sister and friend and was well loved by all who knew her.
During her illness she continued with family and friends to fund raise for the Children’s Cancer Ward based at Southampton General Hospital, raising over £10,000 in just 3 years. In her memory, Hannah’s Appeal was set up which raises money to offer free holiday home breaks to families and children with cancer and life-threatening illnesses.
