Plans to almost double the size of the BLOC Hotel at Gatwick Airport in London were approved by Crawley Borough Council last week.

The team here at BrightSpace are pleased to see planning permission granted for a 231-room extension to the existing BLOC Hotel at Gatwick Airport, London. After the success of the original BLOC Hotels, which has been operating at over 90% occupancy since it opened in 2014, the new extension will take the total occupancy up to 473 rooms and be built above the existing South Terminal departures gate, with a glass passenger bridge linking it to the original hotel.

Due to the complex logistics of building in a live airport environment, several modern methods of construction have been considered. From full modular rooms with prefabricated bathroom pods, to light gauge, steel framed panelised solutions.

With the news of planning approval in February 2020, we are now looking forward to taking the project into the next stages.
